AUCKLAND POLICE COURT CASES (United Press Association] AUCKLAND. April 10 In the Police Court, to-dav Walter Chapman, formerly wharfinger at Devcmport, pleaded guilty to and was committed for sentence on throe charges of falsifying receipts with intent to defraud ttio Harbour Board, and three charges of failing to account for moneys totalling £54. Frank Joseph Wood and Harold Joseph Whittle admitted stealing a, motor ir at Frankton Junction, and stealing various articles from a launch in Waitemata. Harbour. Wood was charged with breaking, entering, and theft from Karangahapc Hoad promises. Both vveiv committed for sentence. William George MeKcrnon, who admitted the theft of a motor-car at Helensville on August 15. was committed for sentence. Theft of a motor and seven gallons of benzine was admit led by Henry Hampton. The evidence showed that the car was taken from an Auckland garage on March 11, and driven to Hamilton with another occupant. At Hamilton it nicked up Stanley Hoy Montgomery.' Accused’and Montgomery proceedei with the intention of going to Well.ngton, but the car broke down at Taumatamairc Hills and was abandoned, being taken to New Plymouth by another motorist. .Montgomery was charged with having assisted Hampton to get away after commission of the offence, and’ho pleaded guilty. Both were committed' for sentence.
William Henry Pevreai admitted the theft of £llO, the property of his uncle. The money was taken from a room in thiy house of accused’s mother, fie was committed for sentence.
