EGG-LAYING COMPETITION
PHENOMENAL RESULTS

CHRISTCHURCH, April 8. The New Zealand Utility Poultry Club’s seventeenth egg-laying competition has been terminated. Phenomenal egg-laying was again recorded by individual birds. In. the single pen section, W. H. West’s White Leghorn laid 330 eggs for'sl weeks, although pho did hot come into profit until ton days after the commencement of tlic competition. Her performance since October 13tli has never been equalled in i any competition, laying an egg daily for 175 consecutive days. In laying 815 eggsi in 51 weeks. R. W. Coombos’s (Dunedin) White Leghorns created a new record for three birds. In the ducks) section heavy scoring was done by R.. W. Hawke’s and 1. Dowthwaito’s single penned ducks, laying 320 k and. 319 .eggs respectively. A* noticeable, fiqiturq ■ of the present Competition is the increased- average egg yield from .Silver Wyandottes, it being 212 eggs per bird.
