■ adjourned monthly MEETING The adjourned monthly meeting of the Nelson Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon. There were present—Messrs H. R. Duncan (Chairman), A. Gould, T. Holland, A?.. B. Jackson, W. W, Snodgrass, A, Gilbert and H. fVWashbourii. ■ , In regard to the application ot tlie Anchor Coy. to lease a portion of tile foreshoi’o on which to build a benzine storage shed, it was resolved, after- an inspection of sites, to offer the company a section of land adjoining the fire-bell. ‘ y . It was resolved to grant on certain conditions a renewal of the lease held bv Mr Smallbone, _ n ‘The consulting Engineer (Mr Cyrus Williams) reported on engines lie had inspected suitable for the Southern Isle, and it was resolved to Obtain further information before deciding on anything definite, ~ , Tlio consulting Engineer submitted a report on the inspection he had made of the Tale system of dredging at* Wanganui; but it was recommended that if the alterations as submitted were carried out, the Southern isle would he suitable for the work ot dredging in Nelson. . A report was also submitted by tlie Harbourmaster (Capt. Collins) who had made an inspection in company with the consulting Engineer. Capt. Collins stated that the Tate dredge was the only machine in his opinion, worthy of consideration. > After some discussion Mr Jackson moved that the dredge be built under the supervision of Mr Cyrus AtiUiams. Seconded by Mr Gould pro forma, i Mr Snodgrass moved an amendment that the report of Capt. Collins be submitted to Mr Cyrus Williams foi review. , Seconded by Mr Gilbert. The amendment was put and carried bv four to three. Ayes: Messrs Holland, Snodgrass, Washboum and Gilbert. Noes: The Chairman and Messrs Gould and Jackson. The atnondmonCwas then put as tuc substantive motion and carried. \ jotter was read from the Stoke Fruitgrowers’ Association complaining of the storage in connection with truit sent bv the Corinna. It whs resolved to refer the mattei to the shipping company. The Board then rose.
