INDUSTRIAL CRISIS
SERIOUS POSITION AT MELBOURNE.
DARKNESS AND INDUSTRIAL CHAOS THREATENED.

MELBOURNE, June 12
The city is faced with an industrial crisis compared to the upheaval of 1917, owing to the threatened action of factory engine drivers and the strike of ‘gasworkers . The city is on the verge of being plunged into darkness and industrial chaos. /.Hie State Government decided to. do its ul.ino.st to protect the community against wanton aggression and use -all its resources., to assist in maintaining the gas supply. The Tremier issued an appeal lor volunteer workers, stating that the strikers bv their action practically declared war on the community.
