SERVICE IN THE ANTARCTIC.
PRESENTATION OF A MEDAL

AUCKLAND, May 25
The King’s Admiralty Medal awarded to Mr Charles (Hidden, a member of the Aurora expedition to. the Antarctic,; was fomally presented to him by the Hon. T. M. Wilford at the offices of ! the Federated Seamen’s Union. Mr Wilford stated that he would say no.’ more than quote the words of the official records, which stated; “Now be-‘ gan a fight with death which called forth qualities of self-denial, endurance and comradeship worthy of the highest traditions of Polar service.” For those attributes possessed by Mr Glidden, he had received this high honour.
