EXCHANGES OF TEACHERS
STATEMENT BY MINISTER
Questioned in Christchurch as to low the plans for the exchange of teachers between New Zealand and other countries were progressing, the Minister for Education, the Hon? J. A. rian-n, stated that he was heartily in acco«d with 'the idea. The actual arrangements however, would need to be made by the education boards who emd iyed the teachers. It, was difficult to make arrangements either in Canada or :n the United States owing to the fact th*t there were so many practically independen school systems and auth irdies hi the two countries. He had tpven instructions for information to be qof.amed as to what the Departments' of Education in Canada and the States would be prepared to do in the way of bringing the matter of exchanges of teachers before their education authorities, and furnishing the New Zealand Educai on Department with a list of authorities prepared to consider exchanges.
