The miners’ programme of a thirty sier cent, increase of wages .and a six iqur day involves, an. additional foity ipilion . sterling a year .in wages, and ap,, increase in the price of coal of '49 a, ton, which is causing alarm in great industrial centres, particuiariy, Bt.'ithngliam, Sheffield, and the, ’’atter’os. The export trades fear that the demand” will strike a heavy blow a: their tempts to re-establish their pre-war position and capture new markets.
