REPATRIATION DEPARTMENT.
(United Press Association* WEIdANOTON, Jan. 20. # Interviewed' on the subject of repatriation, Mr W. Batten, president of the ' New Zealand Returned! Btddfers* Association, said that .before hf agreed to act as district officer for Wellington he, consultedHhe local eub-comnuttee of the Dominion executive. The member® were strongly in favour of .bis apeeptahee of the position. The sub-commit-tee passed the following resolution; —.. “That this executive, sub-committee of the New Zealand Returned goldiers* Association, whilst disagreeing with the. H method' of- establishment and constitution of the Repatriation Department and the method- of .appointment to the position of Director, realises the urgency and importance of work. The association will ■ therefore give its wholehearted support to the work of the department, At the same time the association lacks confidence in the department as at present constituted, aid will make every endeavour to . carry into effect the protests already recorded by the Returned Soldiers’ Association , and other-bodies.”
