The Italian lied Cross Day .Vommittee met alt the Council .ifchambers Inst evening, the ,_ Mayor presiding. There was a good attendance. lit-, was reported that M'sg Farnie was willing to undertake th-* <--upei vision of the selling' of badges of the Italian colour*.
Arrangements for the procession are well forward. It- was stated tb-tfc already there' wore more uer.a.'.ufed cars promised than took -part in the last procession. Great interest is being displayed in both town and country ini connection with the motor car competition and tradesmen's displays. It was resolved to ask .Mr G. J. Robertson to 'take charge of the sale of ticket for the Park.
ilt was reported that the Retailers' Committee had held a meeting and" had enthusiastically decided >to give all the assistance possible. The Committee will introduce a number of novelties, and will provide an ocean wave, swings etc.
It was resolved fto request the railwayauthorities to delay the strain on August sth till 5.30 p.m. : also to ask the Anchor Company to run an excursion steamer from Motueka.
The Rugby Union reported having received good entries for the seven aside tournament. Teams r rom Flat Creek and Takaka would, take part. The meeting adjourned till the 25! h inst.
