SOCIAL AND' COMPETITIONS

There was a good attendance of the public yesterday afternoon at the social and competitions held in aid of the Bab> Clothing Fund. 'Mrs Buchanan, in a neat speech, introduced 'Mrs Truby King, who gave a most interesting address. Afternoon ten was then handed round, after whicl Nurse Thomson, of the Plunket Society gave an exhibition showing how to bathe »aby. Nurse Bisley demonstrated correct oed-making. The tea arrangements were in thchands of Mesdames R. Fell, F. Small bone, and Alex. Brown. Mesdames Pharazyn, -Rogers and Miss Ledger had cnarge of the babv clothes. The sum of £A 7s 6d was taken at the "door. The sale of cakes amounted to £1 5s 6d, and 61 garments were handed in.

Prizes in connection with the compe titions are as follows: —

•Dress, nightgown and jacket: Mrs M Solly (Collingwood). ' Petticoat, knickers, and vest: Mif Claude Graham.

Knitted vest, made by girl under 16: Dora Marshall (Collingwood). Flannel nightgown, by girl under 14Eileen Smith (Nile street). Special prize for nighteown: Eleano: Hunter-Brown '(Cabraeh House). ■< Flannel petticoat, by girl under 33 Betty Suckling (Cabragh Hou*e). Bootees: Mrs F- G- Rutherford TBrightwater) 1, 'Mts Claude Graham 2. Mesdames Sclanders and Angus kindly judged the competitions.
