A SOLDIER'S DEATH IN CAMP.

An enquiry was conducted at Trentham Gamp .on Monday afternoon by .Mr W. O. •Riddell,...S:M;, Coroner, concerning an accident which resulted in the death, of a soldier named Herbert Lloyd Dash, says the Post. Dr.-A. 'H. E. .Wall, medical officer at the-camp, said that he was called to see the deceased on Friday, and found him lying the main road! in the camp. The soldier was then dead, death being due to a fracture of: the skull. The injuries were consistent' with a fall from a horse. . . Evidence was given that the deceased, who was a member, of the 40tli Reinforcements, mounted Captain -Cheater's horse, after saying-'thafc he could riJe to take the animal to the stables. After the-horse, had gone: a. short distance, it commenced ot gallop, and deceased, in trying to pull it up, lost a stirrup, and then overbalanced and fell on his head. He was dead when others went to assist him. 7 A verdict was returned that the 'deceased was accidentally killed,- the-Cause of death being a fracture of the s? -il!, due to a fall from a horse.
