At the meeting of tho Nelson Har- > boiir Board to-day the following letter from Mr A. A. Grac* (on behalf of himself and Mr O'Malley) was road : "Having reason to thvnk that there are coal measures in existence to the southward of tho -City of Nelson in what are commonly known as the Waimeas, wo aro desirous of obtainrnff from the Nelson Harbour Board Ihe right to prospect • tor . coM on the board's endowment in the • neighbourhood of Richmond Borough, and therewith enclose the draft of what is commonly known as a coal option containin" such terms as aro usually 'agreed upon in such cases between those who wish to prospect for coal .and # those owning tho lamd on which it its' proposed to prospect. - . "T need hardly point out that if we should be successful in prospecting for coal ou tho Board's property .tho Board would beneiit not merely through the royalty paid, on every ton of coal mined' but also by the increased trade passing' in coneequ'enco out of the Port of Nelson." The chairman. (Mr H. K.
