The .inmia-1 conference of the federation of Labour opened this morning. .Mr \\. J. Howard, national president, was in the chair.

Among the remits adopted were the following : That the conference press for an amendment to the Industrial 'Conciliation and Arbitration Act so that awards will be binding on all parties connected with any industry for which an award has been made.

That, in view of the delay and the decision given", by the Arbitration Court in the Auckland retail soft goods employees' application for an award, the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act should be amended to compel the Court to grant an award to every properly constituted union making application for an award. That all wealth over a. reasonable income should be conscripted.

,'llr T. Bloodworfh (Auckland) \yas elected national president, and Mr H. L. Horning (Auckland) vice-president. Mr Hiram Hunter was re-elected secretary ami treasurer. The national executive is to bo located at Auckland for the ensuing year.
