RED CROSS NECKLACE.
160 PEARLS ALREADY RECEIVED. One hundred and sixty pearls for the Red Crosi pearl necklace have already been received and the quick response to the appeal has delighted the organisers. Some of the pearls have come from historic necklaces, and in some caises donors have, ,-ent their strings to the jewellers; saying, "Take oul the best pearl and send it to the Rod Cross." Several people have no strings but only single pearls, which they have sent, and some have been given in memory of those killed in the war or in gratitude for curb by the Red Cross when wounded. Collections of .pearls in the various counties are being organised and several wives'of , high ■ sheriffs haw promised to .' collect.;'., Men, equally wUh women, a.w asked to send t>earls for tbe necklace or necklaces, which will be .°old for fcho benefit of the sick and wounded at a special Christie, sale which should ba historic in Red Cross annals.
