AUTHORESS OF "HOME FIRES." I During the recent air raid on London the authoress of "Keep the Home Fit":* Burning" was killed. Mrs Lena Ford was a. handsome woman, of a Spanish tvpe. who had an unhappy lift* in the Southern States'of America, then , for ten years or so was a diligent Worker in Fleet-street. . ; For "Keep the Home Fires Burning , she but" a guinea or two. It was ' regarded as- a- casual effort—-"verses for i music:"—to satisfy a demand. Later ' songs. 'When Clod Gave Vou to me" and "We are Coming, Mother Eng- . kind," deserved their success. "Within a few hours of her death she enthusinstic- , ally read a new song, which she declared' w£s to make her fortune. With her a crippled sou, to whom she was devote.d, J died. Her aged mother was saved.
