CHRISTCHURCH SEDITION CASES.

CHRISTCHU'RGH, May 16
At the conclusion of the meeting of the .Second Division League to-night.-the following motion, was carried unanimously, with applause: "That this meeting of the Christchurch Second Division League, having a full knowledge of all the circumstances connected with the sedition cases and the convictions arising out of the recent public meeting, is strongly of opinion that the action taken was not meant as an incitement to reservists to resist authority, but was intended to be addressed to the Government with the object oi hurrying an immediate betterment of the "conditions of service; and would earnestly urge upon the Minister ot Justice that clemency should be showi to the offenders, and the lema-inder of their sentences refriitt/ea." The chairman (Mr R. A- Armstrong; of- Wellington) said it had! been his opinion all along that there had been no intention, to induce reservists to resist. " . It was further decided that the chairman be empowered to present the resolution to the Minister of Justice anc endeavour to get the stigma of seditioi removed from the mens records.
