(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association (Rec. March 2, 8-40 a.m.) LONDON, March 1. Sir Douglas Haig reports: Our troops made a successful raid near Gonnelieu (nine miles S.S.W. of Cambrai). Dorsets, Manchesters, Lancashires, and Scots in a raid last night southward of Houtulst Forest (Ypree), penetrated a depth of 1200 yards, taking prisoners and inflicting large casualties. There is hostile artillery activitv at St., Quentin, Armentieres, and Z'onnebeke (Ypres). BELGIAN: FRONT. ENEMY COUP DE MAIN FAILS. (Rec. March 2. 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, March' 1. A Belgian communique states: Fol lowing a bombardment, the enemy's coup de main north of Dixmwde failed A number of raits, which were employ ed were destroyed and also pontoons ajid bridges which the enemy was build ing across the Yser There is heavy artillerying in the region of Nieuport, Peryse and Dixmude.
