IRELAND.
FURTHER AFFRAYS AT? ROSCOiMMOiN-. (Australian and N.Z. Cafela Association LONDON. Feb. 27. Further cattle drives at Roscommon led to conflicts with the police, many being injured on both sides. SERIOUS POSITION. (Published in The Times/) (Rec. March 1. 2.10 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 28. The lawlessness in Ireland is largely the Tesult of an ogranised conspiracy against tne Convention. Many people from the East and South are taking refuge in Dublin. A sinister feature is that the priests are powerless. The Church as a whole has not spoken, the impresion of divided counsels producing unfortunate consequences. Mayo Sinn Feiners demanded a public apology from a priest for denouncing lawlessness from the pulpit. The prospects of firmer Government action have revived interest in the Convention.
