(To the Editor.) Sir, —-In the report of the Farmers' "Union meeting it is stated "that, the Mayor of Motueka informed the speaker at the meeting that there was no chance of altering the proposed -boundaries. The speaker must have misunderstood Mr, "Wallace, as the latter was repeating .what I had told him as a result of interviews with some of the members of the Boundaries Commission and .with Mr Massev in Wellington last w«>ek. The position is that owing to the limitations imposed .'by, the: Act the.Comh mission will: find .it :very difficult to remedy the .anomalies which the members know exist in reference.to the Nelson and Motaieka- districts, but it is not impossible, and :we -must continue our fifforts. If these are not ' Mr Massey stated to me that there will be no legislation on the matter this session, but' there will be an opiexfc session/rand if it can be •hown that.-we have; a good case, + which the Boundaries CJommissioh would have remedied it. it .had. wider -discretion -he" ■would then consider including in. th* legislation power- to do so.' --.-At- present, therefore,, it. la ;impojsant.-io do .all we can to get the ißoundaries 'Commission to Alter the proposed boundaries to suit local requirements and community of interests.—l am, etc., C...
