AN OFFICIAL'S APPLICATION. (United Pbhss Association.} AUCKLAND, Oct. 25. ;Mr Justice Stringer, in deciding an application for a writ of mandamus against the Public Service Commissioner by Mr O. E. Bowling, Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court, Auckland, regarding the appointment of Mr Prenderville as * Crown Solicitor, Wellington, over the heads of departmental officers, held that the Commissioner had fairly considered Mr Bowling's application, and had not adopted an aroitrary rule ,and his decision could not be reviewed by this Court.
