A LONG WAR
STATEMENT BY BRITISH WAR MINISTER. UNITED STATES FULL FORCE NEEDED. (Australian a»d N.Z. CaWa Association.) LONDON, May 20. Lord Derby, in an interview with the United, Press, said the war would" not end until the United States' full fighting force was thrown into the scale. Not until the United States made war as if she alone faced Germany would there be a possibility of predicting the e"nd. The bigger the blow the United States could deliver and the quicker she could deliver it the sooner would victory" come". Germany was actively propagating the idea that the end of the war near in order to mislead the United States. This was untrue, but Germany was weakening Nevertheless she was not yeli ready" to accept any terms but her pwifc Lord Kitchener had always held" that the war would be a long one. America's° moral effect would be great against- Germany. If troops were sent to Russia ifc would undoubtedly hearten the Russians greatly. . ■ NICARAGUA SEVERS RELATIONS. NEW YORK, May 20. Nicaragua has severed diplomatic relations with Germany.
