The .suggestion made in Auckland that the New Zealand (Government should simplify the shipping problem by arranging 011 certain conditions with the Imperial authorities to send produce to the West Coast of North America, receives scant support from Wellington business men. -

Potatoes: 6s 9d per cut. Poultry: liens 4s 6d to 5s 6d per pair, roosters 5s 6d to 7s. Messrs Cridiths and Co.. Ltd. (incorporating Braid and Wallace) report as follows on the Wellington fruit and produce market : With only moderate shipments of apples and pears coming to hand. we anticipate an early advance in values. Since the Island steamer is due this week, we advise moderate shipments, providing the fruit will hold, otherwise it should be ipiitted at the earliest opportunity.
