. .WMxLINGTON, This Bay. Steps now being taken to imme.diately enforce the Military Service Act against! jdefaulters -who haver failed to comply with jts provisione. The first 1' -warrant*' for "offences against the Act 'were issued in Wellington to-day, and are, now -being executed". A similar • course will be followed in other districts. The defaulters under the Act are divid- . Ed into .two classes: (1) Those who neglect or refuse £6* attend; medical examina- • tion; (2) These who, after being medically examined, -neglect or refuse to ' parade for going- into camp. The, first class oi : - defaulters will be arrested and sent headquarters for trial lay .court-marfcral. - The second class 'be • ■ arresfed and sent in custody to the camp, where they will be dealt! with. The proceedings at the court-martial will be open- to the press. The penalty may -vary from, -two years' hard labour to a> reprimand.
