THE EVANGELISTIC MISSION AT ST JOHNS CHURCH
The fourth evening service in connection with the .mission was conducted by the Itev. Va-Lmont Triage last evening-, a good audience having assembled. 'the ■popular Alexander Hymn Book was again in use, and during the eventing Miss E. King contributed a solo. The Missioner, whose aim is to stir up to higher usefulness and deeper living, people of all the churches, and- to inculcate thoughts concerning spiritual matters amongst non-church goers, had the privilege of facing a very responsive 'gathering, and' various Nelson Churches were represented. Mr 'Trlgge took as his subject the incident recorded in the Acts of the Apostles, where St. Pawl •(released for the time heing from prison) sjxDke to an audience, including Felix and his unlawful young wife, concerning .Righteousness, Temperance, and Judgment, causing Felix to realise to the extent- of fear, the eternal things which are of most value. Mr Tripige spoke in a masterly manner, illustrating the theme with present-day incidents culled from his own career as a preacher, showing in a most unmistakable manner that there ■was serious danger if an opportunity such as was given to Felix and not accepted, and was being given to the assembly of last evening, should be allowed' to igo by- without the acceptance of Jesjus Christ as Saviour.
The Missioner speaks confidently and firmly to the effect that there is only one means which may be best used for the permanent uplift of men and women, their freedom from wrong-doing and assurance ol lives of usefulness, that -means being the personal resignation to Jesus Christ, and which is followed 'by the fullest personal satisfaction and' happiness.
