In the House of Lords, Lord Newtoninterrogated, said the American Envbassy on 2nd August notified the Government that the Germans ishofc Patrick Mora.u, of the Second Connaughts, and William D«viin, of the Royal Munster Fusiliers, prisoners at Lemberg. It is asserted that. Moran attacked the guard on 23th May, and the guard killed him in selfdefence. They state the reason for Devlin's death is not ascertained.. When the camp was visited, to inquire particulars of Moran. the authorities concealed the death of Devlin. Lord Newton added' thai it was significant that both men reTused to join Casement.
The Foreign 'Office protested to the German Government for concealing particulars, particularly if connected with the men's refusal to join Casement.
