MURDER ON A SHEEP FARM
A SHEPHERD KILLED. (United Press Association.) TE KUITI, This Day. Two men working at Rolleston's sheep farm, 17 miles from Manigapehi were yesterday shot .'by a. Rarotongan named Tiu Kainnvku. Kenneth Livingstone., a. a shepherd, was killed and Charles' Fre-■ erick MacFarlane, manager, was wound, ed. The men were working at a fence when they observed that their whave was on fire! Investigation showed that the whare had been broken into and deliberately fired. They looked for the culprit in the bush when the native shot at Livingstone, who fell at the second shot, and hit MacFarlane who ran for help. Three other shots hit MacFarlane before the native gave up the chase. | Upon 'help being obtained it was found I that Livingstone's body has 'been dra.gg-, ed into the hush and! another shot put'*" ! th: or.gh the head. ..'■_. _ The" murderer, who lives seven miles fromi Rolleston's, rode thither.. After committing the crime he shot his own > horse and caiight another and rode it . away. MacFarlane, who is badly hurt, was taken to the Hamilton Hospital. All the police in the district _ went in, search of the murderer last night and he was arrested early this morning and will arrive at Te Kuiti to-night.
