IRISH QUESTION
BISHOP OF LIMERICK'S "STRONG LETTER." (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) -(Bee. July 24, 2.15 p.m.) •DO'NiDON, July 23. The (Bishop of Limerick, in a strong letter replying to a communication fvoiu the committee formed at Belfast opposed'to 'Lloyd George's proposals, says:— "I can well understand your anxiety and indignation at the proposals of your own political leaders to cut you off from your country. I have very little pity for you because you accyiiesced in'a kind of political servitude wherein your function was &> shout the party shibboleths. You ceased to be men. Your leaders consequently think they can sell you «like chattels. Our poor country is made' a thing for truck barter in the Liberal •Clubs. I doubt greatly whether • the partition scheme will become law. We have piled such a mountain of debt and taxation upon Ireland that it becomes -•!. matter of indifference whether • « are included or not."
