HOSPITAL & CHARITABLE AID BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of thc> Nelson Hospital and Charitable- Aid Hoard was held this afternoon. Present : Messrs H. Baigent (chairman), \V. N. Franklyn, G. JMacmahon, E. S. Houit, G. H. Allan, and Llrs "Watson. Mr T. Bell was excused. Accounts amounting to £386 14s Id Hospital, and £2BO 16s lOd Charitable Aid were |%assed for payment. ALEXANDRA HOME. The Master of the Alexandra Homo reported that one inmate was admitted during December and four left. Two of the latter had left the Homo Avithout leave. , The Board resolved to readmit one in- J mate who had had a "lapse" during the j holiday season. There was no application for read mission in the second case. It was resolved 'that tender? be called for maiming the Alexandria Home, the cost "to he defrayed o u t of one of the Board's Bequests. The Hospital Surgeon (Dr. Jamieson) reported that 38 patients were admitted during the month. 49 were discharged, two cfied. leaving 58 patients in the Hospital at the'end of the month. There were 11 operations during the month. The n-eneral wards were much lighter at. present than at any time in the last six months, hut the fever ward remained in. . occupation with scarlet fever cases, and all the beds on the male side of the. | annexe ware in occupation. He was expecting pome more returned soldiers front the recently-arrived transports, and had sufficient accommodation available for them.
