PAIRS TOURNAMENT.
The Nelson Bowling Club lield a pairs tournament yesterday, vyhen fourteen pairs entered. " Four games were played during the day. Stiles and Bartlet-t ■won ine whole of their games, and were tfc-'i winners. Miuiro and Lane, and Naylor and Thorpe tied for second place, and in the play-off the former pair won. A match for the Wakefield Feathers is 'being played on the Nelson green this aftefrnoon between teams from the Nelson and Motueka clubs. MAITAr GREEN. A pairs tournament was held on the Maitai green yesterday, fourteen couples competing. Five matches were played, at the. end of which two pairs had tied, these : being J. Brackenrid'ge and Hounsell, and Thom and Rovve - , with 4-J; wins each. A deciding match of 13 heads was played, a.nd furnished an exciting finish. Braclcehridge required five on the last head to win and got them. Brackenridge is a. well-known Cliristchurch 'bowler, and a member of the Christchurch Centre has been very pleased with his visit, and at his reception by local bowlers.
