LADY LIVERPOOL TOURNAMENT

A full rink tonrnamdnt. organised in aid of the Lady Liverpool Fund, was held on the Nelson and Maitai bowling greens on New Year's Day. This is the third occasion this season on which the bowlers have helped thei war funds. Ninety-six players took part in the matches, Nelson Club having toil. rinks out, Maitai Club nine, Motueka three,and Wakefield two. Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Takaka players also took part. The playing conditions were, most- unfavourable, owing to the high wind. Many a good shot wasspoilt by the bowl being caught by a. puff of wind, but no complaints "were heard of bad shots being converted into good ones! The bowlers 1 privilege 'of giving blame for bad luck, and- taking credit for good was exercised to the full. However, in spite of the adverse conditions a thoroughly enjoyable day Was spent, while thei Lady Liverpool Fund will benefit by about £ls.
