FATHER OF A BABY QUEEN.

WELLINGTON, July 11. \ A New Zealander who was wounded in action has -returned' to Wellington in the personi of Stoker F- Sa-wkins, of H.M.S. Pyramus, who arrived in the Corinthic yesterday. He boarded- the steamer at Capetown 1 , suffering from a wound in, the neck caused, by a piece of' shrapnel shell. He had joined the British land forces in East Africa, and was wounded while 'skirmishing. As a result of the~sea voyage Sawkihs now looks th 6 picture of health.' ' ' ' A dramatic . incident marked' the stoker's return. His first inquiry at the wharf was for his wife and for the : baby which was born, while he was away ion active service. 'The answer he_reIceived was, "At tie Town Hall." .The baby was the centraj figure in a'coronation ceremony, "having been elected, baby queen; and while her father was being welcomed at the ship's side-by a few ■friends who knew of his return., the baby queen was receiving homage on the Town ' Hall stage.
