DEATH OF A FAMOUS CRICKETER.
INQUEST ON STODDART. (Pbess Association. —Copsbight (Rec. April 6, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, April 5. At the inquest on Stoddart the widow gave, evidence that he had resigned the secretaryship of the Queen's Club owing to nervous breakdown. He had been without- work since, and was very depressed. He lost his money through the war. Late on Saturday night he took a pistol from his pocket* and said he was going to finish it. His wife advised him to consult his friends and after a. slight struggle she secured the .pistol, but returned it as it was not loaded. She took away a box of cartridges. Later she found her husband dead in bed/ and then discovered that he had another box of cartridges. A verdict of suicide was returned.
