YOUNG MAN MISSING
The police have been informed that a I Voting man named Roy Bateup, of Appleby, is missing, under circumstances that have given his friends considerable concern. .It is understood that Bateup was one of a -camping .party on the Rabbit Island ,and had returned to his home at Appleby yesterday. He left in the evening on bis way back to the camp on horseback, and has not been seen since. His horse, however, returned riderless, with the stirrup-irons missing, and it is feared that the young man got into difficulties on his way across the mudflats. The track is a tidal one, and there are numerous holes in the vicinity of the island. Constable Sheary, of Richmond, left this morning to institute a search, and had not returned up to the time of going to press.
