Dec. 19,. 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 18, The raid ha 3 materially increased the number of those enlisting, particularly in the area affected by Wednesday s bombardment . .. ~ The authorities arc placarding the country with posters, headed "Avenge Scarborough !" with a sub-heading, Up and at 'em !"
The poster adds that the wholesale murder of innocent women and children demands vengeance. We will show the German barbarians that, they cannot bombaTd Britain's shores with impunity. At the inquest on the Scarborough, victims, Dean, a coastguard petty officer, gave evidence that two large cruisers accompanied by two smaller cruisers and larger vessels, fired their starboard puns, and then turned and fired the port guns. The bombardment lasted 40 minutes and 500 shelLs were fired. A London Press Association cable reports teh death of Mr Archibald R-oss Colquhoun. the famous traveller.
