NEW YORK, March 7.
New Jersey reports r estate that the steamer Charlemagne Tower sank in the Atlantic. The captain and crew, of 'l7 are adrift in an open and over-crowded boat. _ A heavy sea prevented them landing and they drifted off again, and were lost sight of in a. sriowstorm. Revenue cutters are, searching.

The crew of the Charlemagne Tower have 'been rescued by a revenue cutter, several are almost dea-d from exhaustion.
