MARCONI SHARES
LIBERAL PEERS ON COMMITTEE OF INQUIRY.

The appointment of a committee of peers to inquire into dealings in Marconi shares- is judged to be a hard blow at the prestige of the Government; the Liberals are confident A week a fro the committee was not formed. Loia Loreburn's acceptance roused the fiercest resentment, and he was openly denounced as a traitor. The indignation is shared by Ministers, despite the report that he and Lord Charwood- had only ioined oil the understanding that inquiry was limited to Lord Murray s dealings with shares. The "Daily News" says that doubtless the Liberal peers accepted positions on the committee with the* or preventing the committee being made simply an engine of pei'sonal or party malice; they would have been better* advised if they had boycotted it altogether.
