GIVEN OVER TO AMUSEMENI . AND PLEASURE. THE WAR NOT HEEDED. LONDON, February 12. The "Daily News" Constantinople correspondent reports that the situation there is extraordinary. Business is at a standstill, and many fires have occurred. The inhabitants are indulging in amusement and pleasure, and not heeding the war. Cholera has broken out on the Asiatic shore. The Government Is in desperate straits for money, and is compelling rich merchants to subscribe. The Grown jewels have been hypothecated. Other reports state that .the Turks sortied on Sunday, and captured at the bayonet's point a Bulgarian position in the Daliden hills, inflicting severe loss. The troops at Chataldja joined forces at Papaz Bourgas, and occupied the heights to the westward. TURKS' IMAGINARY VICTORIES. ■; SOFIA, Feb. 12. The Government has issued a statement declaring that the Turks are inventing imaginary victories. -There has been no important engagement since the battle of Chataldja, while 15,000 Turks were killed <jr wounded at Bulair. The Bulgarians have already buried 2500 bodies, while 30QQ corpses are still scattered about the field.
INTERVENTION OF THE POWERS REQUESTED. LONDON, February 12. The "Daily Telegraph" states that it is understood that Turkey, through Tewfik Pasha, has formally requested the intervention of the Powers. GREEKS FRUSTRATE TURKISH ATTACK. (Received Feb. 13, 8 a.m.) ATHENS, Feb. 12. The Greeks frustrated a Turkish attack to occupy, the defile of Zavreke, near Janiha, Many Tnrks were killed, and they lost much war material. ' The Greek losses were small.
