The Governor attended and opened the garden fete of the Blenheim Beautifying Society yesterday (the net takings, of which were over £2OO, and will be devoted to beautifying the reserves about tlie town). Lord Liverpool left at 4 p.m. to board the Tutanekai at Pictou—Press wire. The Rev. Dr. Morlcy, of Melbourne, is at present on a visit to Nelson. The Rev. W; J. Williams, a former pastor of St. John's Methodist Church, i?. visiting Nelson, and will ■'preach at St. John's Church on Sunday next. Turner, of the Auckland Grammar School staff, died on Saturday night.f"- Mr Turner;' who was a native o£ Christchurch, was forty-five years of age, He was a particularly brilliant scholar, and during his career at Christ's College and the University he won a number of scholarships, and graduated M.A. with honours in Classics. The death is reported from Cambridge of Mr Robert N. Buttle, aged 66 years. He saw service with the Militia during the Maori War in the Waikato in 1863. He was for some time in Mexico managing an estate in that country. Returning by way of Europe he saw service once more towards the end of the Boer War in South Africa.
