PROSECUTION OF J. D. WILLIANS
WITHDRAWAL AND HONOURABLE DISCHARGE. (PrKSS ASSOCIATION. —Cot'XRIGHT.] SYDNEY, Feb. 11. When the charge against James Dixon Williams, of harbouring and assisting Frank Lloyd, who was arrested at Auckland on a charge of forging an order foT the purchase of 150,000 of the company's shares, was called on to-day, counsel for the prosecution anounced that he and counsel for the defence had gone thoroughly into the case on account of the public mattei's involved, and had agreed that Williams, in taking the step he did, acted bona fide, and in the interests of the shareholders, as he thought. The explanation put before him by counsel convinced him that the proper course to pursue in the interests of the shareholders was not to proceed further with the charged Counsel for the defence stated that •Mr Williams assented to this course, realising that it was in the interests ofthe company and the shareholders. He was also of opinion that the quarrel should cease between the parties, as the explanation given was satisfactory, and he was honourably discharged. The charge was thereupon withdrawn, and Williams was discharged.
