A BRAVE WIDOW
MRS EVANS RECEIVES THE NEWS. CAPTAIN OATES' SACRIFICE. (Received Feb. 12, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 11. Petty Officer Evans' widow, on. receiving Lieut. Evans' message, said : ";I )have consolation hi knowing my hsuband died bravely." Presiding at the Humane Society, Lord George Hamilton paid a tribute., to the heroes, and especially to Captain Oates for sacrificing his life lest he be a drag on his comrades, hoping thus to give them a better chance to reach their goal.
