Before leaving San Francisco Mrs Scott said that she expected that her husband would succeed in his quest, and •she h'jped to -meet him at one of the New Zealand southerly ports. She said that Captain Scott was sure to suffer bitter disappointment when he found that Amundsen had reached the Pols first ; bnt her husband was ;i ijood sailor and would not 'begrudge for a moment another's victory.
