MONTHLY MEETING.

The" following additional business was transacted at- yesterday's meeting of the. Waimeav'County Council after we went to puess :—-.

, • GOR'R^SPONDENCE.

B. Grdssi, Tadmor, again asked the Councilto be allowed to occupy a bit of land near the Tadmor bridge, and to : •erect a "crib", thereon.—Granted, on, payment of Is per annum, providing •that the Council's title to the land is Iclear.

Mr L. Blanchet, Tadmor, made-an offer of £2 9s 7d for lease of gravel re-' 3erve on Tadmor hill. Mr Tracy McCarthj', juhr., tendered at £3 12s 6d tor ttie same reserve.—The highest tender was accepted. Smith'and Thomas applied for assistance' towards the formation oi a road 'through property in south branch of. the Maitai.—Cr. Corder and Engineer to report to next .meeting. Mr H. li. Thomas asked .the Council to form, an entrance to his residence ori the Arthur Estate, Wakefield.—Granted permission to do the work under the supervision of the Engineer. ' , ' The hon. secretai-y Stoke Progressi re Association wrote re the acquiring of land in Poor Man's Valley for a waterworks reserve.—Resolved that a preliminary survey be made, conditionally upon the Association paying all incidental expenses thereof. Mr. B. M- Field asked the Council to attend 'to culvert opposite his property on Motueka river.—Left to Engineer. Mr. ,F. I. X,edger asked the Council for, information re widening of road at Gardner's Valley, Upper Moutere.— Writer referred to Upper Moutere Road Board.

Four Wai-iti ratepayei-s informed the Council that, they had contributed ; n money and labour to the value "of '£s 7s on protective ; works at-Wai-iti river, and asking the' Council to contribute a like sum.—Resolved to contribute three rolls of wire netting, conditionally on' those concerned finding the labour. Mi-. T. H. Torode, Lower Moutece, requested permission to remove 4-roomed cottage along main road; and also to widen Reay's to Engineer. Mr. F. A. Bamfoi'd, hon. secretary Tahuna ' Progressive Association, asked the Council to meet the committee and discuss the best means of dealing with an obstruction and ditch at junction of Muritai-streat and main road, Tahuna.—'Granted.

Mr. J. T. Veysey, hon. secretary Stoke Progressive Association, called the Council's attention to the bad state of the main road through Stoke from, the Orphahage-road to the Town boundary, and also of the Jlocks-road io the same, point.—Writer' to be informed that the matter is in the hands of the Engineer. Mr. G. Brougham asked tlie Council to sell him a piece of iron bark timber
