FULLERS' PICTURES. A very large audience at Fullers' Pictures last evening witnessed with appreciation the new programme, which is another of tRe usual high Fuller standard. There will be no show to-night, the hall being otherwise engaged; but last evening's fine series will be given its final screening to-morrow night. THEATRE ROYAL PERMANENT PICTURES. "THE SERGEANT'S DAUGHTER," The large audience which attended the Theatre Royal last night witnessed one of the best selections of cinematograph films yet presented by the management. The star film, "The Sergeant's Daughter" is some 3000 feet in length, full of sensational and stirring passages, really a photo-play of intense interest, with a well-arranged plot, and-a happy termination. "Flaming Arrows," a sensational Indian cowboy drama teeming with exciting incidents, was much enjoyed by the audience. "The Fatal Trap Door," by the Cines Company, pluved of an unusually-exciting nature. "Angry Nature" depicted Mount Etna (the great volcano) whilst in active eruption. "Hindoo-Chinese Rejoicings," and "A Trip to Kalbrya," were two beautiful scenic items that found favour with the audience. "A Modern Yarn," "Babj's Adventures," and "Mr and Mrs Patapau Wish to See the Eclipse;" kept the audience in shrieks of laughter. Realistic mechanical effects, cleverly worked, added additional realism to the various pictures, whilst the popular selections by the first-class orchestra formed a pleasing feature of the performance. At the matinee on Saturday another complete change will be given. COUNTRY TOUR. At the Institute, Motueka, this evening the usual weekly performance will commence at 8 o'clock. Owing to" the late running of the-steamer from' Nelson the visit has had to be altered to Thursday, instead of Wednesday, this week. The programme to b«j presented includes a number of interesting and amusing pictures, .headed by a Nordisk drama 3000 feet in length. "The Price of -Beauty"; also, "J3y the Light of the Moon" ; "Chinese Smugglers"; "Detective Roberts' Peril"; "A Cowgirl's Pranks"; "Birds of Moorland"; "The Pottery Industry of Tunis," etc. At Takaka on Saturday next this same programme- will be shown at, the 'matinee at 3 o'clock, and in the -evening at eight o'clock. HAYDiIN'S STAR PICTURES. The new sf-rios of International films presented last evening by the Ha yd en Star Pictures management met with a hearty, reception : from those present, and it may safely be said that the new films suffer in no way in comparison with any of the previous collections supplied by the J. iD. Williams Greater Amusements. The programme is headlined by a powerful and- exciting drama, entitled "An Adventui'er's Love," and in this bTilliant production the Cines Company excels itself, the situations being vividly interesting throughout. Th e supporting picture cover a wide range of subjects and comprise the following: "Mackerel Fishing," a scenic industrial by the Sun Company; "The Topical Budget-" ' Williams' Weekly Budget of English Items; "Bobby the Judge," Gaunipnt comic; "Dupin Moves," an exhilirat'jng comic from the Urban 6tudio; "Bill lias tha' Gout," wherein the famous .Lux comedian - shines to great advantage; "Tony Would be a Cowboy," . comic (Champion) ; "The Grip Snatclier," fr'om th© favourite E. and A." makers ; "Wenona's Broken Promise,"- another fine Indian dramatic by the Bison Company ; the stirring dramatic, "Mr X and the Unfortunate Heiress," by Lux, completes a powerful list of attractions* It will be seen by reference to . the .'advertising.; column that the management of Hayden>'s Pictures has decided to inaugarate a novel and interesting competition, viz., for the best suggestion for .re-naming the Druids' Hall and additional improvements to the same. The competition commenced - last evening, and will be continued nightly, all papers having to be sent in by tlwy 19th iust. The programme will repeated this evening. GIRLS' SCHOOL ENTERTAINMENT. _ . • Next Tuesday an entertainment is jto be provided in the Theatre Royal by a large number of former pupils of the Nelson 'Girls' .School, in- aid of a fund which has. been inaugurated to purchase suitable pictures and engravings for the school. An interesting programme, "consisting of action songs, chorusses, tableaux and marches has been, arranged, and .the promoters promise a very, interesting evening's amusement. Admipison to the entertainment has been fixed at Is 6d"for the dress circle, and Is for. the stalls. The box plan is at Bunny's.
