FORU. S PRESIDENCY DEMOCRATS SWEEP THE POLLS. (P&Bsa Association.—Coptrisht * NEW YORK, Nov. 5. The election returns indicate an overwhelming victory' for the De-irorrats. The party captured New York State by a majority exceeding IOO.OCO. The Democrats captured Maryland. (Mr. Roosevelt leads Air. Taft at Chicago and New York. Mr. Roosevelt carried Illinois. The Democrats captured New York State in. the Senate and l.owc-r House elections. The splitting of the vote lost the State to the Republicans .as Mr. Taft's and Mr Roosevelt's votes combined in most in stances exceeded the Derr-ccrats' total. All the States south of Potamac returned Wilsonites, and Connecticut, Delaware. West- Virginia. Indiana, and Missouri vctc-d Deiroc-rat. New Hampshire and Vermont returned Tafties. Mr Taft congratulates Dr Wilson, wishing him a successful administration. The latest indications are that Dr Wilson has carried 39 States, Roosevelt six. and Taft three.
