Witheford, of Calliope Dock fame, arrived by the Moldavia en route to New Zealand after a seven years' absence. He returns as the representative of one of the leading financial groups in London, who have arranged to provide nearly a million capital for a New Zealand project upon his being able to advise that satisfactory arrangements have been made in accordance with instruc- , tions. ! During his stay in England Mr. Withe- | ford had interviews and communica- ; tions with the Admiralty, resulting in his : receiving its thanks for a certain action h e initated n connection with British Pacific interests.
