S.Z. CONFERENCE. (Usnxrf Press A^oci^on.J AUCKLAND, March 6. A. n organised spiritual campaign has been formulated for next year by the Methodist Church in New.Zealand, to celebrate the entrance of the Uurcft upon independence from Australia, and the consummation of the Methodist Union in the Dominiom • The Conference to-day confirmed the arrangements for the campaign made bv the Rev. Vallance Cook and Mrs Cook, and the proposals for missions by two suitable missioners from Australia, sup- . plemerited by a scheme for holding missions in every circuit and home mission station in New Zealand. It- was "resoived to set up a welfare of the Church committee," to collect information as to the spiritual state of the Church j difficulties of the present day; arid the most effective methods of meeting tHem. The Teport of the foreign missions stated that the work had steadily progressed during the year. The financial returns] ''showed another record amount raised, it i being £3203, an increase of £350 on the previous vear. This Day. The Foreign Mission Committee of the Methodist Conference reported approving of the progressive policy outlined by the Board, including the appointment of five additional missionaries 'and eight Sisters. The* Conference. pledged itself to use its utmost endeavours to raise during the year the £3600 asked for by the Board'of Missionaries. THE ADELAIDE CONFERENCE. (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) _ ADELAIDE. This Day. The Methodist Conference decided to «end greetines to employers and employees, praying that the conditions making for conflict- might be removed, and stating that the Methodist Church ftamfa- impartially for conciliation in in-dustrial-disputes and for the abolition of child labour under 14. A proposal for the Council of the Churches to exchange "representatives with the nlovers' federation and the Trades and Labour" Council in order to produce a better feeling, was strongly opposed and ■was withdrawn.
