ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(United Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, Monday. A middle-aged man named/ Alexander Phillip, a well-known, builder,, fell from the veranda of a new building, about lift., this afternoon, and sustained injuries to life liead, causing, instantaneous death. FALL FROM '■&' RATDWAY CARRIAGE; CHRISTGHURCH, Monday. A man named .William Giffbrd,« a passenger by the first express from? south tonight, fell'off the platform of a carriage between Christchurch a ! nd Lytt'elton. He managed to keep hold of the railing, and was dragged along a considerable distance, receiving internal injuries. He was taken to the hospital. TWO MEN DROWNED. (Received 9.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Two men named Athol Swain a*id William Bennett, while crossing Bellingen Heads in a flat-bottomed ■' boat, were washed out to sea. The boat was overturned in the breakers and has not since been seen. BODY RECOVERED. HOKITIKA, This Day: The body of the Rev. Mr Lock, one of the victims of the drovyriing fatality at Big Wanganui three weeks ago, was found last evening, two miles'north of the mouth of the-river. The body is being brought to Ross, ..where ah v-in-quest will be. held to-morrow. ■
