BAKERY NEARLY BLOWN UP. MARVELLOUS ESCAPE OF A WOMAN. RESIDENTS PANIC-STRICKEN. Phess Association.—Copyright. (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Friday. A gas explosion at Conway's Bakery, Fitzroy, wrecked the building, a-"d the windows were blown across tb--> street. Adjoining houses were a.l'=i damaged. The residents, thinking it was an earthquake, rushed into the road in fh"ir night clothes. Curiously enough. M>- Conway's wife- was sleeping right ov«r the centre of the explosion, but wrs nnawakened, though a large hole was blown right under her bed.
