SOCIAL WORK IN BRITAIN.
A GREAT GATHERING. RESPONSE TO AN APPEAR. Pkess Association.—Copyriobt. LONDON. Thursday. Four thousand public- school -and university men assembled at Quern's Hall in answer to the Coronation call for representative- churchmen to take part in social WLrk. J.old Loreburn was in the chair, and those present included the Bishops of Loudon. Ripon and Hereford. Lord C-urzon. Lord Kelborne. Lord Cromer, the Duke of Devonshire, and General Sir R. 8. S. Baden-Powell. The Archbishop of York made a stirring appeal to laymen to foim a club for the promotion of s cial service. The Queen's Hall was filled to-day for services of intercession. All denominations were represented, the Bishops of Ripon and London presiding. Similar intercessions were, held throughout the country.
