It has been' arranged that the meeting' of hou.ie■holders shall be heild in the principal ML'houl iai eauh. school district,- except' in Ned sail, where the meeting will be held in the Provincial Hall, at Hope in ,the Rany.au School, and at Collingwoed in the Institute. All meetings arc advertised to commonco at B*p.m. , "Householder" in isolation to the election of members of a School Committee means—(a) Every adult made or female person, who has lor the periled of three, months next before the- da.y of 'election; resided in any dwelling-house within the school district as owner or tenant thereof ; a.nd (b) if not qualified as above .includes the father, wherever resident, or, if he is dead or absent from New Zealand, the guardian or other person, wherever resident, who has the actual custody of any child attending any State School situated within sne.li- dia* triefc ; and (c.l m, school districts situated within ,a mining districts means- every holder of a. miner's right who for a period of three months next before the day of election has resided In the distinct and is not an. alien. •
A misapprehension appears to exicit in several quarters that householders must have their names upon an electoral Toll to be entitled to vote at am election of a School Committee. Sucji is net the case. If a person is a householder, qualified as above, whether his or her n.a.me is on, an electoral roll or not, he or she is entitled to vote at the election of a School Committee. In view of the fact that.School Comma ttees are entrusted with the management io-f educational matters within school districts, it behoves all interested in. the welfare of the young to exercises their rights as householders aond citizens in electing repiretsen'tative committees, apd it is'lioped' .that the meetings on Monday will be .well, attended.'
